Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media Wednesday to provide injury updates for the 49ers. The following players won’t practice Wednesday:

Maurice Hurst (calf)

Trent Williams (ankle)

Deebo Samuel (calf)

Jimmie Ward (quad)

Elijah Mitchell (rib)

Mitchell has a rib injury, and Shanahan is hoping he gets some practice this week ahead of Sunday's game. Shanahan said today’s practice would be “slowed down,” and the real test for Mitchell will come tomorrow.

Shanahan added that Samuel aggravated his calf, but he’s expected to play Sunday against the Cardinals. Dee Ford and Azeez Al-Shaair are “full go” after returning from a concussion.

The team also opened the practice window for George Kittle, Robbie Gould, and Jeff Wilson Jr. Each player will practice Wednesday.

On what the team is getting in Charles Omenihu: “We’ve been banged up on our D-Line. Getting him this year, a guy that has another year on his contract, that made total sense to us. We just got him in here today. We’ll get him out at practice this week. We’re excited to have him here.”

Shanahan said Dre Greenlaw “didn’t quite get to where we want,” and the 49ers are looking at next week for his practice window to open.

Shanahan had a nickname for Alex Mack since 2014 (when he coached him in Cleveland) that persists now: “Our Golden Retriever.” Shanahan referenced that if you throw a tennis ball anywhere that Mack will sprint to get it, and that’s how he is every play during practice.

The 49ers are preparing for Kyler Murray as if he’ll start Sunday. Murray spoke to the media Wednesday, and reporters on hand said his left ankle didn’t look swollen. Kyler said the five days off was “definitely helpful” and said he feels “good.” Arizona’s head coach, Kliff Kingsbury, said Murray doesn’t have to practice this week to be available Sunday.

DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green did not practice Wednesday for Arizona, either. We’ll keep an eye on the Cardinals' injury report as the week goes on.
