The 49ers have a long list of unrestricted free agents this offseason, so we can expect a flurry of roster moves during the next month. On Thursday, the team announced a one-year extension for safety Kai Nacua, who appeared in five games this past season. The former BYU cougar and Fred Warner teammate primarily played on special teams. Nacua registered one tackle on special teams after he was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad. Nacua had to play a snap late in the season after one of the starters went down for a play.
Nacua, along with the following players, has been extended this offseason:
RB Jeff Wilson Jr.
RB Austin Walter
QB Josh Johnson
QB Josh Rosen
LS Taybor Pepper
CB Ken Webster
S Jared Mayden
Eight down, 44 more to go, give or take.
Filling out the bottom of the roster may not be as critical as re-signing household names like Trent Williams, Jason Verrett, Kyle Juszczyk, or Kendrick Bourne, but we’ve seen how important it is to have depth in the NFL.
