The San Francisco 49ers expect to be busy this offseason with so many free agents on the roster. On Friday, exclusive-rights free agent wide receiver River Cracraft posted a photo of himself on Instagram with a pen in hand signing his contract extension:
The 26-year-old appeared in nine games and caught six passes for 41 yards with the 49ers this past season.
Cracraft’s value comes on special teams as he’s played on the kickoff, kick return, punt, and punt return teams. Cracraft returned eight punts for the Niners this past season.
With Cracraft, the 49ers now have Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jalen Hurd, Richie James, Jauan Jennings, Travis Benjamin, and Kevin White under contract for the upcoming season. I’d be surprised if we see any action as far as signing a wideout in free agency.
Perhaps Kyle Shanahan falls in love with a wide receiver late in the draft, or the team hits on a UDFA, but wide receiver is low on the totem pole when it comes to team needs for the 49ers.
