When the 49ers made their run to the Super Bowl two years ago, defense was their calling card. With questions remaining about the quarterback, offensive line, and third wide receiver, the same may have to be the case in 2021 as well. Fortunately for the Niners, they seem to be putting the pieces in place to restore the defense to more of what it looked like in 2019 as opposed to 2020.

“I think that this pass rush is, as I like to say, very nasty,” Niner Nate said on today’s Niner Nate-tion Podcast, “It’s a nasty pass rush the 49ers are putting out there. They’re going to continue to be scary in this division. With what we’ve seen from the Cardinals and the Seahawks, it really feels like the 49ers and the Rams are in a league of their own, when it comes to defense, at least.”

As Leo Luna pointed out during the show, Samson Ebukam ran a 4.5 40 yard dash coming out of college. He brings the speed opposite Nick Bosa that was so successful for the 49ers during their run to the Super Bowl.

Combine that with Emmanuel Moseley and Jason Verrett's re-signings, and the questions about the Niners’ defense are quickly being answered pretty decisively.
