Free agency for the 49ers through two days hasn’t gone the way many have expected, which is why it’s been entertaining. On Monday, San Francisco signed four potential starters who will cost a total of $13 million against the 2021 salary cap. Kendrick Bourne was signed before Richard Sherman and Trent Williams.
Speaking of Williams, he has yet to sign a deal. We’ve seen reports come in saying that the Chiefs and Colts are in the mix. To me, Williams will end up signing back with the Niners after other teams are unable to match San Francisco’s contract.
Akash and I will record on the “Locker Room” app at 6:45 p.m. PT tonight. Come chat with us as we give our thoughts about the players who have already signed. The app is on iOS only for now, but they plan to expand to Android users and eventually have a web version. If you miss the show, we plan to record it and use it for the latest Shanaplan episode. We’re just changing it up this week for more of a live Q&A type of show. What you’ll need to do is follow us once you download the app (@kposey & @akashanavarathan), and that’ll let you join the room and interact with us.
We’ll discuss Ahkello Witherspoon going to Seattle, make a few predictions on where some of the under unrestricted 49ers free agents land, and talk quarterbacks, of course. We’ll also discuss some of the other moves around the NFC West and determine where the 49ers stack up to the rest of the division.
If you have any questions or topics you’d like us to address, let us know in the comments. See ya soon!
