We are now officially less than two weeks away from the 2021 NFL Draft. Since there hasn’t been too much drama concerning who will be the top two picks, the anticipation is building to see who the San Francisco 49ers will choose third overall.

The consensus is that it will be one of Mac Jones, Justin Fields or Trey Lance. Many NFL Draft pundits, such as Mel Kiper Jr. and Daniel Jeremiah, have the Niners going with Jones. But after Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch attended Fields’ second pro day, it looks like the Ohio State product is getting more and more hype to be the 49ers’ pick.

DraftKings updated its betting odds for who will be the third overall selection, and Fields comes in as the favorite.

Fields (-125)
Jones (+120)
Lance (+350)

*You have to bet $125 on Fields to win $100, $100 on Jones will net you $120, while $100 on Lance will get you $350.

Earlier in the week, oddsmakers had Jones at -200, Fields at +180 and Lance at +450. So it looks like sportsbooks adjusted their odds after Fields threw in front of Shanahan and Lynch.

The money has started to pour in for Fields, and Vegas has rightfully adjusted its lines to reflect who the general public is betting on.

It will be interesting to see how the odds shift between now and April 19. Lance will throw in front of Lynch and Shanahan at his second pro day, which is scheduled for Monday. If the North Dakota State product wows Lynch and Shanahan, we could see another movement in the betting odds.

Going into last year’s draft, here were the odds on who the Detroit Lions would take at No. 3.

Tua Tagovailoa (-160)
Chase Young (+220)
Isaiah Simmons (+500)
Jeffrey Okudah (+550)

The Lions had Matthew Stafford on the roster at the time and wound up choosing Okudah.

San Francisco has done a great job of keeping information from leaking out of the building. While NFL insiders are all over the map on who the Niners will select, we haven’t heard any information from team sources that would indicate they have a favorite already in mind.

The good news is that we are getting closer to finally finding out who the 49ers pick to be the face of the franchise for hopefully the next decade.
