The San Francisco 49ers were the talk of the football world coming into the 2021 NFL Draft. No one knew which way general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan were leaning when it came to the third overall pick.
The Niners wound up taking North Dakota State QB Trey Lance to be the face of the franchise. Lynch and Shanahan said they intend on keeping incumbent starter Jimmy Garoppolo for at least the near future, ending the speculation that the team will trade him at the draft.
The attention now shifts to the other areas of need the 49ers need to address going into the 2021 season. The team will likely add some pieces to the secondary while also looking to beef up the offensive and defensive lines.
San Francisco is currently scheduled to have two picks on Friday and six more in Rounds 4-7.
