Emmanuel Moseley is changing his number from 41 to No. 4

Moseley is the third member of the 49ers secondary to change his number this week

First, Jaquiski Tartt changed his number from 29 to 26. Then, Jason Verrett switched from No. 22 to his college jersey, No. 2. Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is the latest member of the 49ers secondary to change his number.

Moseley posted on Instagram that he’ll be switching from No. 41 to No. 4:

Aesthetically speaking, you won’t find a better tandem of starting cornerbacks in the NFL.

Moseley will enter 2021 as the Niners starting cornerback opposite Verrett. Moseley took some lumps during the 2020 season after Davante Adams and DK Metcalf got the best of him, but those wideouts do that to every player they go against.

Or, will Moseley start? This past weekend, Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch said the team wouldn’t close the door on a Richard Sherman reunion. Sherman said himself that he’s open to returning to the 49ers.

We’ll see if this is all noise or if something is really in the works for Sherm to return. At this point, I wonder if the team would feel more confident in Moseley’s capabilities, knowing he still has plenty of room to improve while already being a competent starter.
