49ers running back Raheem Mostert left the team’s first game of the regular season against the Detroit Lions with an apparent injury. According to the team, Mostert is now questionable to return with a knee injury.
While the 49ers have strong running back depth, they are already missing Jeff Wilson Jr. with injury and left third-round pick Trey Sermon on the healthy inactive list for their Week 1 matchup in Detroit. If Mostert cannot return, rookie Elijah Mitchell and JaMycal Hasty are the remaining running backs in uniform.
Mostert has dealt with knee injuries throughout his career, but he’s been one of the most efficient backs in the NFL when healthy. While he’s played in just 24 games over the past two seasons, Mostert has carried the ball 241 times for 1,293 rushing yards and hauled in 30 passes for 336 receiving yards, racking up 13 total touchdowns for San Francisco.
