The 49ers have ruled cornerback Josh Norman out for the remainder of their Week 3 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Norman, who started over rookie corner Deommodore Lenoir, has emerged as the Niners replacement for cornerback Jason Verrett, who is out for the year with a torn ACL.
Norman is playing in his tenth NFL season and has recorded two tackles and a forced fumble in two starts for the 49ers this season. Norman appeared in nine games with the Bills last season and racked up 24 tackles, four passes defended, and one interception.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams will continue looking to take advantage of the 49ers depleted secondary. Lenoir is next up on the 49ers cornerback depth chart and will see expanded playing time opposite Emmanuel Moseley in Norman’s absence.
This injury could be severe for Norman. We’ll find out more after the game, but we could be looking at Dre Kirkpatrick next week.
