NFL Week 1 game thread: Tampa Bay vs. Dallas

The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers host “America’s team” the Dallas Cowboys at 5:20 p.m. PT tonight for our first NFL action of the season. Tampa Bay is a 7.5-point favorite for this contest.

The Bucs returned everyone, drafted Joe Tryon, and look to continue where they left off last year. If you remember, Tampa Bay’s offense didn’t get rolling until the middle of the season. For a while there, I questioned whether they’d make the playoffs. Then, Tom Brady figured things out, and the Bucs never looked back.

Did anyone watch Hard Knocks? It might’ve been the most boring year I’ve seen. Mike McCarthy plays a part in that. Dak Prescott not playing didn’t help, but the series wasn’t a good look for Dallas.

Speaking of Dak, I think he’s a top-five QB in the NFL, but I wonder if his injury is worse than the Cowboys have led on. There are plenty of weapons on offense, but McCarthy does them zero favors.

I like Tampa Bay by double-digits tonight.
