How to improve our wide receiver position with the draft?

I think the player that would have the biggest immediate impact on our team is Christian Watson and no, it is not because he used to be teammates with Trey Lance. His explosiveness on tape, his 89.5 pff number and his combine results all point to a player that is going to be successful at the next level. The combination of a 6’4" 208 pound frame with a 4.36 40 and a 38.5 vertical is a pretty good start. While he didn’t have a huge amount of production, he did have 8 yards after the catch last season. My only concern is his 10.4% drop rate. I can only drool over having Watson, Deebo, Aiyuk, and Kittle on the field at the same time.

The other receiver I really like is Calvin Austin but, with the addition of Ray Ray McCloud we might not need him. On the other hand, the 49ers have a history of signing a veteran and then adding competition through the draft. He is pretty undersized at 5’8" and 170 pounds. I am pretty sure most football players are bigger than that by seventh grade. However this guy is tough and he can flat out move.

While his 4.32 40 is somewhat impressive, it is his 39 inch vertical, his 6.65 three cone drill and his 4.07 20 yard shuttle that get me all excited. I really don’t see him having any trouble finding separation and his size isn’t going to matter if defenses can’t cover him. He is a pretty good punt returner too.

Ok, I put out my two choices, let’s see what everyone else has to add.
