Golden Nuggets: Another day, another drama

Your daily San Francisco 49ers news for Thursday, May 26th, 2022.

Kyle Shanahan expects Jimmy Garoppolo to be traded

“Nothing’s changed since the surgery, we knew where we were at before that, and then he got the surgery, so everything went on hold,” Shanahan said. “I expect him at some time, most likely to be traded, but who knows. It’s not a guarantee and it’s been exactly on hold when that happened. And when he is healthy, we’ll see what happens.”

Branch: 49ers’ QB Trey Lance’s altered motion is about angles, not an overhaul (paywall)

“Lance completed 17 of 20 passes, primarily on short, underneath routes, with 12 of his completions going to running backs or tight ends. He appeared to have a more compact, less over-the-top motion on many of his throws, although head coach Kyle Shanahan said his mechanics hadn’t significantly changed.”

49ers Notebook: Griese hasn’t spoken with Garoppolo; Confidence in Banks; Raiders working out Kaepernick

“49ers offensive line coach Chris Foerster believes Banks can earn the starting left guard spot following the departure of Laken Tomlinson to the New York Jets.”

Aiyuk seamlessly stepping up as leader in 49ers’ WR room

“Everyone has been the guy where they come from,” Aiyuk said. “So there’s not a lot of times where you have to take things or change things up or do something differently. You think that things that have worked for you in the past are going to continue to work for you. It’s kind of hard to get out of that.

Multiple 49ers speak out after Javon Kinlaw’s heated confrontation with reporter

“Those who shared their comments about the incident included Deebo Samuel, Arik Armstead, Taybor Pepper, Brandon Aiyuk, Jaquiski Tartt, Dante Pettis and Raheem Mostert.”

The 49ers possibly move closer to a much-needed Jimmy Garoppolo resolution

“Twice in that comment, Shanahan said it’s “on hold.” This implies there’s another party holding. That there’s another team that was ready to trade for Garoppolo before he underwent shoulder surgery — and that the team has yet to otherwise address its needs at the position.”

49ers returning from injury who could have biggest impact

“[DT Mo Hurst]: The fifth-year lineman is set to return from a calf injury that limited him to two games in 2021, his first season with the 49ers. Hurst spent his first three NFL seasons with the Raiders appearing in 40 games and recorded eight career sacks, 78 total tackles — 53 solo, nine for a loss.”
