“On Tuesday, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted an offseason video of himself catching three passes from the 49ers’ second-year quarterback.
The caption jokingly reads: “The only three throws from the day, his arm got fatigued after that...”
“Is it a thing? It’s a thing but I don’t see it being anything that I think we’ll ever talk about after the first couple days of training camp, when me and the other reporters get all of our questions about the arm fatigue or arm fitness out of the way. To my knowledge he’s never missed practice time because of the arm, but I do know that it’s something…I guess when you have a guy that you’ve invested so much in, you’re going to monitor this stuff anyway. But I do know they’re going to keep a very close eye on how his arm feels and the pitch count of how many throws per day is okay, but I think they do that with every quarterback.”
“What’s more, unlike the Seahawks and Texans, the Browns are in win-now mode, which might spur them to make a move and should make them an attractive destination for a quarterback auditioning for 2023 free agency. Garoppolo would join a team with two Pro Bowl guards, a Pro Bowl running back and a head coach who calls the offensive plays.”
“If Garoppolo began throwing in the last two or three weeks, that means he’ll have upwards of four or five weeks of throwing before camps open.”
“The team will report July 26, and their first open practice is the following day on July 27. Practices are expected to run from 10:15 am-12:15 pm.”
“The offseason hasn’t given the 49ers much, if any, proper calming space. Both their roster and coaching staff have seen significant turnover, all while the sagas of Jimmy Garoppolo and Deebo Samuel have burned on with incessant rumors and without a satisfactory conclusion — at least yet.”
“I think he has knowledge. He’s way beyond the game, his abilities and stuff like that,” Rice gushed. “He’s going to bring something really special to the game.”
“Seattle, in the Russell Wilson trade, has two number ones and two number twos next year. And San Francisco believes they can get a second-round pick for Garoppolo—only from Seattle.
“Everybody else will say, ‘I’m not giving you a second-round pick for Jimmy Garoppolo.’ But San Francisco can go to Seattle and say, ‘Time out. You think I’m going to give Jimmy Garoppolo to a division rival with a chance that he’s going to come back and beat us twice a year? You’re going to pay the price for that.”
“While he was well inside the top half of NFL in both metrics, there is clear room for improvement. His Success Rate of 50 percent was 30th among qualifying backs. When a runner’s DVOA is higher than his Success Rate, it indicates that he was reliant on long explosive runs while frequently getting stuffed behind the line of scrimmage.”
“The third lengthy stay away from Santa Clara will be ahead of the Week 11 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico City. The November 21 primetime matchup is one of five scheduled international games on the 2022 schedule. The 49ers will hold practices leading to the game in Colorado Springs, Colorado.”
