For reals. Usually gophers are my cross to bear, and there's still a few of those running around though I've probably gotten at least 7 or 8 this year. I'll eventually get the remaining few when it stops being so damn hot.
But about a month ago, I started noticing really deep cone-shaped holes dug into the ground all around the house. I was like WTF?! Posted on my local area FB page and from the responses, came to the conclusion it was either ground squirrels or skunks. Since all the squirrels I see around here are clearly tree squirrels, I figured it had to be the other.
Set up a motion-camera with IR I got for Christmas a few years ago, and yep-a-doodle... was skunks! Though at the time I didn't know that should be "plural"...
Ordered a trap, set piece of bread with peanut butter on it in there, and after 2 nights caught me a skunk. Figured welp, that solves that! Drove it a few miles away into the boonies and released and I'm sure sported a self-satisfied smug smile.
Except only the holes continued. So kept trapping. 2 skunks... 3 skunks... then one night I actually saw 2 skunks running around across the dirt road, so I knew there were at least 5. In the span of another 3 days caught (I assume) those 2... the 2nd one being last night.
Tonight I shall set out the trap again to test the waters for if there's possibly SIX of the damn things!
