49ers vs. Seahawks 1st quarter thread: Get to Geno early and often

A holiday special

The 49ers are minutes away from kicking off against the Seattle Seahawks. Geno Smith is active for the Seahawks, but how healthy and mobile he may be is another story.

If the 49ers can get pressure on Smith with just four, the home team will be in for a long night offensively. But the Seahawks are a team with plenty of weapons, and they can hurt you at every level of the field.

Tonight will be a test for a secondary that features a rookie making his first start and a cornerback the Niners have started and benched multiple times. But those players have made plays during the past two weeks.

On the offensive side of the ball, Brock Purdy could be in for a big day. He’s terrific against zone coverage, and that’s the style of play the Seahawks rely on. There will be plenty of opportunities to run after the catch tonight, which is a scenario that’ll always favor the Niners.

The 49ers are 7-point favorites at DraftKings SportsBook, with the total on the game set at 43. I think San Francisco will score and win by double digits.
