Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in San Francisco 49ers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
We always like to get a pulse of how 49ers fans are feeling after the previous game. Now that San Francisco is on a 4-game winning streak, we’re assuming the vibes are sky-high after the beat down in Philadelphia.
As for the question of the week, we asked which NFC contender poses the biggest threat to the 49ers? We’ve already seen this team humiliate the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles this season.
Philly was in a tough scheduling spot, while Dallas didn’t have any excuses. If anything, the Cowboys' loss is worse considering how both teams were playing at that time and Dak Prescott was supposed to be the Niners first “test.”
The Lions are 9-3 with the same point differential as the Eagles. Detroit has a strong offensive line, plenty of speed at the skill positions, and an incredible offensive mind in Ben Johnson.
But we’ve seen Jared Goff throw three interceptions in a game, and you can’t help but think how he’ll perform outside in a playoff game, or under pressure in general. That’s also a defense that’s allowed at least 28 points five times this season, and surrendered at least 24 points in two other games.
The level of talent drops off a cliff after we get past the Lions. Only the Vikings, Packers, Saints, and Rams have a positive point differential in the NFC. Los Angeles gave the Niners a run for its money in the first half, back in Week 2, but this is a revamped secondary and the Rams defense is one of the worst in the NFL.
Other than that, it’s Josh Dobbs (maybe Nick Mullens, if we’re lucky), a promising young, but inexperienced quarterback in Jordan Love, and Derek Carr playing with an old and slow defense.
So, who are you giving the best chance to give the Niners a run for their money?
Which NFC contender poses the biggest threat to the 49ers?
