The Bears will interview 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak for their OC position

As always, the question is which assistants Kubiak would take with him.

Last offseason, Klint Kubiak interviewed for vacant offensive coordinator positions for the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kubiak joined the San Francisco 49ers staff as passing game coordinator one season after he had the same title with the Denver Broncos. Kubiak, the son of former Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, was the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator in 2021. He’s been coaching in the NFL for nine years now.

Unsurprisingly, a Kubiak is garnering interest around the NFL, especially one who works under Kyle Shanahan. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler tweeted that Kubiak will interview for the Chicago Bears vacant offensive coordinator position.

It wouldn’t be an offseason if the Niners coaching staff didn’t get plucked from. At this point, Shanahan has to expect it.

Kubiak's previous experience as a coordinator always meant his stay with the 49ers was short-term. The worry, much like if defensive coordinator Steve Wilks gets hired away, is how many assistants Kubiak would take with him to the Bears or another team.
