Fooch's Update: Reid is replacing Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor
The NFL Pro Bowl is not the most exciting thing to watch, but there is a certain measure of prestige to a selection. The San Francisco 49ers voted to the Pro Bowl roster are not attending, with Ahmad Brooks joining the other seven in skipping out. However, the 49ers will have a representative. Rookie free safety Eric Reid was selected as an alternate, and according to his Twitter account, he has been asked to replace someone:
@E_Reid35: Would much rather be headed to New York but Hawaii isn't bad. #ProBowl!! ✈️ ☀️

Eric Reid had his share of struggles in the NFC Championship Game on some deep coverage, but all in all, he had a great rookie year. He has areas to work on this offseason, but hopefully this is the first of many Pro Bowl selections, although future absences would be preferred.
Ahmad Brooks had initially said he would attend the Pro Bowl, but apparently he changed his mind. Usually medical issues are pretty easy to come up with, so maybe he just decided he did not want to go.
It appears Reid will be the lone 49ers representative in Hawaii. It might be enough to get me to watch some of the game, but even that is a tough one. I might have it on in the background. But even still, big congratulations to Eric Reid on his first Pro Bowl appearance.
