We break down the 49ers snap count in their 34-0 win over the Jets.

The 49ers had their first blowout victory of the season on Sunday as they destroyed the New York Jets 34-0. One of the best parts about a blowout in my mind is a chance to get some of the backups more playing time. In this week's snap count, the 49ers had a chance to empty out most of the roster on more than just special teams.

When you look at the last three weeks' snap counts, the 49ers kept things fairly tight to the vest and did not get too wild with the back end of the bench (Week 1, Week 2, Week 3). This week, the 49ers got a chance to get some playing time for the backups on defense, even if it was only a series or two.

The 49ers had 72 plays on offense and 50 plays on defense. Alex Boone and Anthony Davis were the only two players to play every snap of the game with their respective unit. The 49ers were able to work in Daniel Kilgore on the line with eight offensive snaps, and Leonard Davis had a sizable opportunity, getting 14 snaps on offense to go with eight on special teams.

Speaking of special teams, Demarcus Dobbs and Darcel McBath are both getting the most playing time with that unit. The group of Anthony Dixon, C.J. Spillman, Tramaine Brock, Larry Grant and Tavares Gooden have been right behind those two week in and week out. This week saw more special teams work than normal given the excess of Jets punts.

We break down the 49ers 34-0 decimation of the New York Jets.

Well, then. How 'bout them San Francisco 49ers? In a game that was really never in doubt, the San Francisco 49ers destroyed the New York Jets 34-0 to improve to 3-1. The 49ers struggled to get points on the board early, but even with a 10-0 halftime lead, this game never really seemed in doubt. The New York Jets could not get a thing going and it showed. Mark Sanchez struggled, the run game struggled, the defense struggled. Aside from a pair of missed field goals, the 49ers dominated in all three phases of the game.

While it was apparent throughout that the 49ers should have probably put up 40+ points, it was a solid win nonetheless. The offense struggled at times to get going in the first half, but they seemed to get things in gear in the second half. The key once again was the rushing game. Although Frank Gore only managed 62 yards, the team effort was ridiculous, averaging 5.6 yards per carry to net 245 total rushing yards. Even if you remove Colin Kaepernick's 30-yard run late, it was still an inspiring effort.

Speaking of Kaepernick, we finally saw the 49ers open up the playbook with him. Aside from his Week 1 run, Kaepernick had been under the radar through the first three weeks. The 49ers officially put teams on notice today as Kaepernick had five rushes for 50 yards and almost hooked up on a big touchdown pass to Randy Moss. We'll see how frequently this shows up. It was also nice to see him slide down at the end of the game and put the 49ers in position to take a knee instead of looking for personal glory. That's smart, team play.

If you missed the front page, I posted our story stream for the game. If you go in, you can check out a variety of posts related to some key plays throughout the game. There were no pieces of 49ers injury news, otherwise we would have had updates about that as well. We'll be doing this story stream each week for the game and it will include the game threads and other tidbits. Enjoy and what a day to be a 49ers fan!

The 49ers have just about wrapped up a thorough beat down of the New York Jets as Larry Grant blocked a punt and Frank Gore followed with a short rushing touchdown. The touchdown gave the 49ers a 34-0 lead in a game they have dominated from start to finish. The lead gives the 49ers a chance to get Colin Kaepernick some playing time beyond just a few plays that were quite effective in the first half.

Although any win is a good win, this will be especially sweet following the team's struggles last week against Minnesota. The team got back on track and will look to carry this into their Week 5 contest with the Buffalo Bills.

The 49ers just about wrapped up their Week 4 matchup with the New York Jets as Carlos Rogers ran back a fumble 51 yards for a touchdown. Santonio Holmes caught the ball and went down without being touched. He injured himself on the play and as he rolled over that might have led to the fumble.

The score gave the 49ers a 24-0 lead in a game they have dominated from start to finish. The 49ers went into the half with a 10-0 lead, but the game was never even really that close. Some inaccuracy and stupid penalties kept the Jets alive, but the Jets have simply not performed well at all today.

The 49ers are now driving down the field with eight minutes left and giving the Jets a heavy dose of Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. There is no doubt that this is the way the 49ers like to see things go down. Power rushing, some timely catches and handily winning the turnover battle.

We take a look at the third quarter and provide an open thread for the fourth quarter.

The 49ers and Jets entered the fourth quarter with the Jets driving, but trailing 17-0. Things quickly went south as the 49ers were able to turn a fumble into a touchdown return by Carlos Rogers. The touchdown gives the 49ers a 24-0 lead early in the fourth quarter in a game that is well on its way to a rout.

The score score is starting to indicate the one-sided nature of this game. The Jets really have looked abysmal. Mark Sanchez is fairly awful today and the Jets biggest "play" came on a kick return to mid-field. The Jets defense has been getting beat frequently as well, but some inaccuracy has kept the 49ers from completely capitalizing. That turnover though really opens this thing up.

We'll be back after the game with a recap. For now, I can say that 49ers fans are representing incredibly well at Met Life Stadium. They are obviously not a majority of the crowd, but with the 49ers controlling this game, they are being heard loud and clear.

We take a look at the first half and provide an open thread for the third quarter.

The 49ers and Jets are coming back out for the second half with the 49ers leading the game 10-0. The 49ers really should be leading by more at this point, but a 10-0 lead is better than nothing. The 49ers left three points on the field on a David Akers field goal, and have had some ups and downs on offense. They have shown some incredibly potential, but now it is a matter of doing it with a bit ore frequency.

Fortunately, the Jets are not nearly as good as their 2-1 record might otherwise indicate. I suppose it does not necessarily indicate much, but either way the 49ers have been able to do some damage on both sides of the ball. The 49ers have made some stupid mistakes, but they have not yet burned the team. The worst was Aldon Smith picking up a personal foul to extend a drive into 49ers territory, but fortunately a Jets fumble ended that drive shortly thereafter.

We're back out for the third quarter with the Jets getting the ball to start things off. Let's hope the 49ers can put some more distance between them.

The 49ers struck first against the Jets s Colin Kaepernick was brought in to run a QB keeper from the Jets seven yard line. The play was on 3rd and 6 in the second quarter, which was a risky play with the second year QB. Fortunately the Jets probably could not stop me at this point. Kaepernick was keeping pretty much from the get-go and scored the easy touchdown, giving the 49ers a 7-0 lead.

We open the floor for discussion of the second quarter of 49ers-Jets in Week 4.

The 49ers and Jets are into the second quarter and we have seen some interesting developments thus far. The most notable is Colin Kaepernick getting some action on a pair of interesting plays in the first quarter, running an option play and then throwing deep. It got particularly interesting though when the 49ers brought in Kaepernick on 3rd and 6 deep in Jets territory. He ran the QB keeper to give the 49ers a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter. Not too shabby.

I am really curious to see how frequently the 49ers use Kaepernick the rest of this game. Things just got really interesting.
